Zephaniah 2:2 NASB95 Before the decree takes effect— The day passes like the chaff— Before the burning anger of the LORD comes upon you, Before the day of the LORD’S anger comes upon you.

It is amazing to me how fast time seems to fly. I have lived 56 years, and yet it feels like I should be in my early 30s. The time I spent with my children when they were little was such a great time, but it went so fast; it seems like a blur.

In our text, God speaks to evil nations, telling them that the days of their sin will pass by like chaff in the wind. Then, because of their sin, comes the day of the burning anger of the Lord!

God talks about this day in the following verses. He says Humble yourself and seek righteousness before it comes. Perhaps you will be hidden in this day. He makes it clear you don't want to be here on the day of His wrath. When He pulls His presence away, all hell will break loose.

If not you might be in the land that will be wiped clean. It will be rid of all its inhabitants as it becomes beautiful pasture land for God's people. Other people full of pride will be destroyed like Sodom and Gomorrah. It says some will starve and others will be wiped out by the sword. Others still will be in wilderness places perhaps with weeping and bashing of teeth.

At this time, you will beg for time to pass quickly, but it will seem not to move.

No one wants to live in this time and God warns against it by encouraging you now to stop living in sin. Turn to Him in faith and see His grace. In verse one He says, Zephaniah 2:1 NASB95 Gather yourselves together, yes, gather, O nation without shame.

Then in verse 3 He says, Zephaniah 2:3 NASB95 Seek the LORD, All you humble of the earth Who have carried out His ordinances; Seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will be hidden In the day of the LORD’S anger.

Time is flying by, don't wait until it is too late to place your faith in Jesus. Soon it will seem as if time slows down, and this will be a time you wish you were not in. Then it will be too late.

Tick tick tick time is going by. Do it now.

Love Bro. Scott
