1 Thessalonians 5:24 NASB95: Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.
The Lord and creator of all the world, is Faithful. When He says something, it is a complete guarantee. Genesis 1:3: Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
As I write this devotional at 9:37 AM, over 6000 years later, I see light outside. Genesis 1:9: Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.
As I write this devotional over 6000 years later, I stand on land. I can go on and on, and we can see that God's words are true and He is faithful. However, let me just give you one more. Jesus said in John 16:7-8: “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. “And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.
Almost 2000 years later, I have the Holy Spirit indwelling me. He is presently helping me by giving me the words to form this devotional, and He has and does convict me of my sins. He leads me to repent and strive to not sin again.
You can trust the faithfulness of God!
Benjamin Franklin once said, "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes". He is most certainly wrong. Because the faithful God, who is more faithful than certainty, says in 1 Thessalonians 4:17: Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
Just as 1 Corinthians 15:51-52: Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed. (Sleep in this instance is a word in Greek referring to death.) (Verse 52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
God is faithful; history has proven, and the present reveals, that the future will happen as God has spoken. For if He gives a time, you can set your watch by it.
Therefore, what the Lord says, you can completely trust as a perfect guarantee. Our God is faithful!
The fact that He is faithful is both a blessing and a scary thing! Let me explain. It is a Blessing when we rely on faith in Him. Ephesians 2:8: For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
Yet it is scary when we refuse to put our faith in Him. Because the faithful Lord says in John 3:18: “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:36: “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
Please remember what our text says! 1 Thessalonians 5:24 NASB95: Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.
It is both a blessing and scary that He is so faithful.
Lord, I pray that all who read this devotional find it a blessing that You are faithful and Your word is guaranteed. For those who find it scary, I pray they will place their God-given measure of faith in Your Son and then realize what a blessing it is! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Love, Brother Scott
