God desires all people to come to Him. When they do He pours out on them Himself.
He does the pouring as showers rain down on them. The rain is not just water, but God being poured out to cover His people.
In our text today we notice some amazing things that we can always count on from God.
The text says, Nehemiah 9:13 NASB95 “Then You came down on Mount Sinai, And spoke with them from heaven; You gave them just ordinances and true laws, Good statutes and commandments.
First, as we understand our text in the context of the rest of Scripture. We know that the Israelites were in Egypt for 400 years not all of this was as slaves. This shows us that we must trust God's timing. He exists outside of time and knows and sees all therefore we must trust completely in His perfect timing. Then our text says, "You came down on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven. God didn't just send a messenger but He also came and revealed His glory to them. He will do the same for us if we have faith.
I have experienced God, and His glory is amazing. Then the text says that God gave them, just ordinances. God is just in all ways and He has explained to us that the wages of sin is death. This is a just ordinance. It is completely just in all ways.
Then it says He gave true laws. There is no falseness in God; everything in God is true. Jesus even refers to Himself as truth. All of these are attributes of God and are unchangeable. So the laws the rules He has given us in His word are true. There is not a hint of falseness in them. That makes having a desire to follow them easier as they can be completely trusted as true, just as God is true and can be completely trusted.
Then the text says that God gave/gives to us His people, Good statutes and commandments. Good is gracious, kind, pleasing, joyful, and loving. These are again all attributes of God, and therefore when He pours out Himself, He is pouring out these things on us. Statutes are deeds or jobs that are given for you to complete. They are services for God to His people for His glory. Commandments are orders of life that need to be followed to be righteous. All of these given by God are good.
God will pour Himself out on you if you have placed faith in His Son and belong to Him. They are always just, true, and good, because this is God.
Praise the Lord for His coming to us in the correct time to shower us with Himself!
Love Bro. Scott
