Isaiah 19:21-22 NASB95 Thus the LORD will make Himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the LORD in that day. They will even worship with sacrifice and offering, and will make a vow to the LORD and perform it. The LORD will strike Egypt, striking but healing; so they will return to the LORD, and He will respond to them and will heal them.

Look at the love of the Lord for His creation in this text. Egypt has been a tool of Satan used against God in the world for thousands of years. Yet God has continually thwarted Satan's efforts and glorified Himself each and every time.

With Egypt being used against the growth of God's Kingdom you would think that they would be left out. However, this is not the nature of our Lord. He desires that none would perish from Him, and therefore He is patient and long-suffering. 2 Peter 3:9 NASB95 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Our text tells us that not only will the Lord forgive Egypt, but He will also make Himself known. "Thus the LORD will make Himself known to Egypt." Our Lord doesn't just excuse our sin, He also sees a relationship with us. Just as He does Egypt.

As we examine this prophecy, we see that they will respond to His efforts. "The Egyptians will know the LORD in that day." "They will even worship with sacrifice and offering, and will make a vow to the LORD and perform it."

This nation, which has for thousands of years followed Satan by worshipping false gods, will worship the Lord! What is keeping those who have turned from Him for less than a lifetime from doing the same? It can be nothing more than pride. The thought that you have to do something on your own first is not only the case, but it is also not possible.

Our text continues, "The LORD will strike Egypt, striking but healing; so they will return to the LORD, and He will respond to them and will heal them." God will bring them down to a point where they realize they can not get out on their own and then He will heal them.

Why would you want to be taken to a point like that? Why would anyone want to be so deep in despair before they cry out to God? There is no need for it! You can cry out and seek Him now. He is patiently waiting for us to answer His call.

If we notice in our text God initiates the work. Egypt, a vile nation that has fought against God, will respond.

This is the love of God even for a nation that refused Him for hundreds upon hundreds of generations. Then, when they respond to His call, He heals them to take them home through the sacrifice of Jesus. If the Lord will seek Egypt and save them He will do the same for you. He is being patient with His call. Will you respond to Him?

Jesus is tenderly calling thee home—

Calling today, calling today!

Why from the sunshine of love wilt thou roam,

Farther and farther away?

Calling today! Calling today!

Jesus is calling, is tenderly calling today!

Jesus is calling the weary to rest,

Calling today! Calling today!

Bring Him thy burden and thou shalt be blest:

He will not turn thee away.

Jesus is waiting, O come to Him now!

Waiting today! Waiting today!

Come with thy sins, at His feet lowly bow;

Come, and no longer delay.

Jesus is pleading, O list to His voice!

Hear Him today! hear Him today!

They who believe on His name shall rejoice:

Quickly arise, come away!

Calling today! Calling today!

Jesus is calling, is tenderly calling today!

Love Bro. Scott
