Nahum 3:7 NASB95 — “And it will come about that all who see you Will shrink from you and say, ‘Nineveh is devastated! Who will grieve for her?’ Where will I seek comforters for you?”

It is easy to get wrapped up in the world. That is until the world is destroyed with fire, and then who will grieve for the world? People, much like the city of Nineveh, start to think their world will never end. They celebrate day and night, giving no thought to God, for they consider themselves to be God. They amass followers in an effort to never feel alone. In their pride, they believe that they are successful. Then the flood comes, and instead of their followers being there to help, they are swimming for their own lives. Then the prideful person realizes they have no one. Their world is devastated. All their followers have shrunk away, and they are going down for the last time. As they gasp for air, they are wondering why did I place my faith in pride.

This is not just the people of Nineveh. It is not just the people of the tribulation. It is not just the people of the worldwide flood in the days of Noah. No, this is what will and has happened to those who have lived their life refusing to place their faith in Christ. They instead think that they have all they need in themselves and their friends. Sometimes, it is not friends but some significant one they are sexually attracted to, and they think that is enough. Until that person or people let them down. This will always happen because things of this world are fallen, upside down, and temporal.

The only one you can count on is God. He is eternal having always been He is now, and He always will be. He speaks of this in Isaiah 41:10-11 NASB95 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ “Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; Those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish.

So you can live like Nineveh, and wonder, Who will grieve for me?’ Where will God find comforters for me?” The other option is to live in Christ. This is the best option because, as scripture says, Romans 10:11 NASB95. For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.”

Don't follow the world, follow Christ and you will never be alone.
