John 2:24 NASB1995 But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men,

The previous verse says, John 2:23 NASB95 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing.

In these two verses are a Greek word that is translated differently in our English language. The word is translated correctly in both instances so that it would be understood in English.

In the first verse I gave you, which is our text today, it is the word entrusting. In the second verse, it is the word believed. The word in Greek is pisteuo. It is defined as to believe, to trust, to have faith in.

In verse 23 many believed in His name, observing His signs.

Many people, just like these people, will see signs and wonders and believe in Jesus, but not His Salvation. The belief they had was superficial it was a belief with no trust or faith.

So when we come to our text we see that Jesus was not entrusting Himself to them.

Remember, entrusting is pisteuo, which means to believe, to trust, to have faith in. Jesus did not put trust in them because they did not trust in Him.

He knew this because the text says, "for He knew all men."

Nothing has changed today. Jesus still knows all! These people had FOOLED a lot of people and possibly even THEMSELVES but they did not FOOL JESUS. Neither have we.

We must be careful to evaluate ourselves and make sure we have a true salvation experience. If we don't do this we might be fooling ourselves, but we will never fool Jesus.

We see Jesus teach about this in Matthew 7:21-23 NASB95 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

We often miss in these verses that it isn't only saved people that work in the church. Both the saved and the lost work. The difference is the words, "he who does THE WILL OF MY FATHER." It is not just Godly works but the WILL of the Father.

Don't be fooled by your signs. Instead, be secure in your salvation through Christ and your DESIRE to do the Will of the Father.

Jesus knows the difference. Is your faith in Jesus, a Faith that Jesus trust in?

I pray it is or that you will seek Him to make it real Faith.

Love Bro. Scott
