33 years ago today, God blessed me by giving me a son. He has been a part of my life since that day. Actually, he has been a part of my life for 9 months before that day. Well, to be honest, he was a part of my life long before that, as I had a desire to be a father long before I became one. I imagined having children, loving them, guiding them, teaching them, and showing them the importance of God. I can tell you about my children from their birth until now and you will get a decent idea of who they are. I can tell you about my children from nine months before their birth and you will get a better idea. However, if I go back and tell you about great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, and my children, you will get a much better understanding of them. Including my children by marriage.
You see, the further back we go, the better we understand.
This is what our text from the apostle Peter is telling us today. Each day molds on top of the previous until you have today's finished vessel. However, today's finished vessel is the start of tomorrow's clay in the hands of God. He can continue on or reshape. History reveals what He does.
This is why God starts our understanding by revealing His eternal existence.
2 Peter 3:2 NASB95 — that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.
Peter says you need to know by remembrance, the words of God's previous proclamations. (the Old Testament).
To remember, requires repeatedly ingesting until it is in, and a part of, our members).
However, not just words of the prophets in the Old Testament, but also the commandments and words of our Lord and Savior penned by the apostles. (The New Testament).
Just like you need history and present to understand children, even more so you need to ingest the full and complete word of God to understand our Savior.
So many people waver because they only know a little bit of God right now, and how He is affecting the present. They miss out on the best understanding because they don't know the past, present, and future. When you have repeatedly ingested this until it becomes a part of your members then you will see there is NO other way except Jesus.
Praying you will ingest all of His word into your members so you can remember.
Love Bro. Scott
