El Shaddai, El Elyon, Adonai, Abba, Yahweh, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah-Raah, Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Shammah, Jehovah Tsidkenu, Jehovah Mekoddishkem, Jesus, El Olam, Elohim Qanna, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Sabaoth, Immanuel, Alpha and Omega, Attiyq Youm, Logos, and El Deah, are just a short list of names that the Lord uses for Himself. Each has a meaning that describes who He is. Each one shows a different attribute and reveals that He is Holy and Righteous. Perhaps a better way to say it is Holy and Righteous are He. Simply because Holy and Righteous do not define God but God defines Holy and Righteous. No matter what He does, that is Holy and Righteous. So for Him to be all these names and so many more we need to realize that how we reference God is important. He is in NO way normal, to a sinner which we all are. So we MUST NOT reference Him, with normalcy. Everything Holy is He. Everything that is Righteous is He. In the book of the prophet Malachi He makes this clear among many other places. Listen to what He says. Malachi 2:2 NASB1995 If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name,” says the Lord of hosts, “then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart.
He goes on to say that He will spread refuse on our offsprings face for doing so. God takes His names, which describes Him, seriously. Listen to how He words it in the ten commandments. Exodus 20:7 NASB1995 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
When we reference the Lord we must take it seriously. He is not the man upstairs, He is not the big guy, He is not a god. He is El Gibhor, (THE MIGHTY GOD). Give Him reverence when you reference El Chuwl. After all without Him you would not exist.
Praise the Lord
