For whose purpose do you live? Do you see your purpose as pleasing yourself, making yourself happy and satisfied? Maybe you live to please your spouse. Is your life all about seeking to make their life happy? Maybe you seek to please your children. Do you desire to make them have a happy life, one that feels no sadness?

While all of these purposes are noble in the world view it is neither biblical nor possible. No matter how hard you try, you will let yourself, your spouse, your children, your parents, your friends, and everyone else down.

Scripture says, Galatians 1:10 NASB95 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.

God has designed us for His Glory. You can not please man and God. It is impossible. But I will let you know the truth of scripture. If you please God you will benefit mankind! While pleasing God you may not always please your spouse, children, parents, friends, and yourself, but you will be a better spouse, parent, child, and friend. You will also realize it is not about you but all about God. The most important thing you can do for them is to be the best servant you can be for Christ. That is sharing the true Gospel of Christ in words and deeds to all. Sometimes this will not look like you are being the best to others because they are looking through the eyes of the world. However, they will one day, hopefully sooner rather than later see through their spiritual eyes. Then they will realize your purpose for living was to be a bondservant of Christ. Then they will see how much better of a spouse, child, parent, and friend you were/are since your life's purpose became pleasing God rather than man. The best you can be to anyone is pleasing to God!

Galatians 1:10 NASB95 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.

The only way to truly please man for eternity is to seek to please God from this moment forward.

Some people are not happy with Paul in this text but one day they would be thankful that he lived for God. Are there any people in your life who feel this way about you?

This is not talking about being hateful, it is talking about living firm and bold in the gospel with love. True Love is not always seeking agreement, but is always seeking righteousness.

Love Bro. Scott
