2 Chronicles 18:17 NASB95 Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”

Ahab was an evil man and King. He ruled over Israel during a time when they went further and further away from God. Ahab knew he was against God, so to make himself feel better, he would surround himself with yes-men. If you disagreed with him, he would have you jailed or killed. All he wanted was yes-men. People who would tell him that he was right even when they knew he was wrong.

Ahab wanted Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, to join him in a battle against Ramoth-gilead. Jehoshaphat agreed but said, " First, let's check with God. Ahab sent for 400 men whom he knew would prophesy as he desired. They would not seek God; they would seek him. Of course they did, just as he desired. Jehoshaphat asked, "Can we not get a true prophet of God?" He wanted to know what the only true God had to say. So Ahab, seeking to get Jehoshaphat to be a yes-man too, sent for Micaiah, a true prophet of the true God. However, knowing he would say only what God said, he warns Jehoshaphat that he will prophesy against me. Truth known, Micaiah wasn't prophesying against Ahab; he was just following the only one who is always right and whose word is always true. He was following the one true God (Yahweh). From this warning and Micaiah's true prophecy, Ahab said see I told you so. I am always right. "Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?” Jehoshaphat then folded and went into battle against God's will. Ahab died, and Jehoshaphat repented and cried out, and the Lord saved him.

People today have learned so little. We read this story, and yet still today, if someone will not accept our sin, then we look for someone else who will. It doesn't matter that the true word of truth from the only true God says it is sin. I just need someone to say to me, I agree with you; yes, you are right; there is nothing wrong with your sin. So we leave the Church that preaches the truth and find a "church" that says you are okay. Go ahead and sin.

I pray from this scripture that we have learned a lesson. That seeking yes-men so we can gather a majority against God will not work. Instead, it will bring about death. That is, unless we repent and stop following yes-men and return to following God, even when His word disagrees with us.

I pray also that we learn from this scripture that we do not need to be yes-men. We need to be followers of God. We need to seek out Godly leaders chosen by God and work with them as they follow God. We need to realize that when we have followed yes-men away from God, we need to repent and start to follow God again.

Adrian Rogers once said, "It is better to be divided by truth than to be united in error. It is better to speak the truth that hurts and then heals, than falsehood that comforts and then kills. It is better to be hated for telling the truth than to be loved for telling a lie. It is better to stand alone with the truth, than to be wrong with a multitude."

I put it this way. God alone is a majority.

If you put all of God's creation on one side of the scale and God on the other, the scale will tip to God's side so fast that all of creation would be launched into nonexistence.

You are never wrong when you stand with truth. Jesus said I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life.

Don't seek out the crowd; seek out the Creator, for He is the one whom all creation (even the crowd) must bow the knee to.

Saying yes to a lie doesn't make it truth. It just makes you wrong.
