When my children were little I remember a time in a store when someone spoke to one of my children and in fear they came up to me and hid behind me holding on tightly to my hand. On another occasion, we were in a parking lot and I had a hold of their hands to keep them safe and one of them pulled loose and started to run. In fear when they recognized danger they wanted my hand but when they didn't recognize it they tried to escape my protection. Is this not us when confronted with the wages of sin and the temptation of Satan.

Do you know that you are never alone when Satan comes after you with a temptation? He wants you to think no one is there to help you to overcome the temptation but that is a lie. You have a Brother who is beside you and ready to help you leave that temptation behind. His desire is to protect you. He has already conquered the lust of the flesh the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. You are not required to fall into the sin of your temptation. In fact, you are offered a guiding hand to lead you away from it. ‭Hebrews 2:18 For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

Jesus is right there with you ready to give you aid. Will you accept His help? We are told in ‭Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

When we look at these two verses we can see that Jesus was tempted in ALL things and yet did not fall to the temptation (He did not sin). Yet we also see that He suffered the wages of the sins even though He didn't fall to them. He did this to provide the Way out of temptation and the Way to the Father. You shouldn't accept one without accepting the other and yet we do. We will follow Him to the Father through His atoning work for our sins. However, we will not follow Him out of temptation to keep from sinning. We have been given a hand from our Brother to keep us safe when tempted but like a little child, we try to let go of the hand and do it ourselves until we get scared. Then just like a little child, when we feel the fear of death, we look for the hand of comfort to take us to the protection of the Father. Jesus has your hand because He cares and is there to protect you. Stop trying to pull loose and walk confidently with His guidance.
