‭Jeremiah 27:5 “I have made the earth, the men and the beasts which are on the face of the earth by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and I will give it to the one who is pleasing in My sight.

Do you ever fret over storms or an illness? Do you worry about your job or how your team is going to do in the next game? Do you consistently live in anguish about the direction your children or other family is going? Almost no one can always answer everyone of these questions with a no. I have had two things lately that have been heavy on my heart. I won't say I have been worried but they have been a concern. There is a big difference between concern, and worry, fret, or anguish. The first causes you to pray with an assurance that God has power to answer. The latter three causes you to wonder if God has the power or will answer. No one is perfect and we all struggle with worry, fret, or anguish, at times. This is why God gives us His Word that reassures us of who He is and the power He has. God makes it clear to the Jews in our text that by His power all things are created and by His power He can control. My Dad had a saying that He would use on occasion to remind my brother and I who was the boss. He would say, "I brought you into this world and I can take you out." This is basically what God is reminding them. I decide, I control, I am the power, you can be assured I will give to the one who is pleasing in My sight. We have no need to worry when we live right and know He is God. I will close with an example of God giving me an understanding of His power and that my worrying was doing no good. In this example He taught me to trust in His power. There was a time in my life when I was a single parent and my WORRY was if something happened to me my kids would be raised in a way that didn't teach them about God. I was so scared of this I used to beg God to let me live until they became adults. I was extra cautious to not do things that might harm me or take my life. I lived in fear that I might die or get hurt and they would be raised in a way that led them away from the Lord. Then one day God revealed to me His power and said to me while I was in prayer. Do you think that I can't find someone to do a better job than you at raising them to live in my presence. I was humbled in that moment as I realized that in my worry I was showing them that I didn't trust God. I quit worrying and gave it to God and He let me raise them because His word says I will give to the one who is pleasing in My sight. Trust in the power of the Lord. Don't worry, trust in God.
