Psalm 112:1 NASB95 Praise the LORD! How blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who greatly delights in His commandments.

If we go back one chapter and look at the last verse we see that 112 flows right out of 111.

Psalm 111:10 NASB95 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.

Wisdom comes out of fear of the Lord.

Out of wisdom, with understanding comes praise. Praise is to give all honor to the Lord that He is deserving of. Of course, we can not truly give Him His just honor and glory. However, we can give him all honor and glory. Yet we all know we fail at this. We need to realize that even giving all praise/honor still does not meet the level of Praise/honor, that God is deserving of.

An example of this is found as the verse continues. It says, How blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who greatly delights in His commandments.

God blesses every man who fears Him, even though in the beginning of wisdom we understand that we do not praise Him enough. Nor do we give Him the awe of fear which He deserves. Yet He still blesses us as we Praise Him in our fear.

He also blesses those who not only Praise Him and fear Him but those who take delight in His commandments. We praise Him in our fear and wisdom. We love Him in His desire to protect and guide us with His commandments.

Clarke said,

"It is not enough to fear God, we must also love him: fear will deter us from evil; love will lead us to obedience. And the more a man fears and loves God, the more obedient will he be; till at last he will delight greatly in the commandments of his Maker."

Today, start with praise of the Lord, knowing you are blessed when you praise Him in awe of His Lordship and His holiness, in fear of His omnipotence, His righteous judgment, and His omniscience. Then you can take great delight in His loving forgiveness, guidance, and protection , through His commandments.

Praise the LORD! How blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who greatly delights in His commandments.

Love Bro. Scott
