Nehemiah 9:12 NASB1995 And with a pillar of cloud You led them by day, And with a pillar of fire by night To light for them the way In which they were to go.

God heard the cry of the Israelites as they were enslaved in Egypt and He guided them.

Look at the provision found in God's guidance. He guide them with a pillar of clouds in the day. This was not just a cloud but a pillar of clouds. It showed them the way to go and it provided shade from the immence heat of the sun during those long hot days of travel. God always desires the best for us. We will have it if we will only follow Him in obedience. We tend to see a shade tree and think it provides better than the pillar of clouds. A shade tree can do a good job for a small area but a pillar of clouds can let some light through while blocking the heat for a large area. Maybe an area large enough to hold millions of people as they travel. Do not let the good of the world hinder you from having God's best. The tree can look enticing but it will lose it leaves.

Then God provided a pillar of fire by night. Once again we see God's provision. The pillar of fire will provide light for them to see as the sun is blocked by the earth causing night. In the darkness of night, they had the light of the day. They could see as they followed God so that they wouldn't stumble in a hole or lose sight of their group.

The pillar of fire provided warmth on the cold nights. They could have stayed in their tents and slept, but that wasn't following God, and it would have hindered their journey to the Promised Land. A tent is good, rest is good, but if it keeps you or delays you from the best of the promise land, then unfortunately, you have settled for the good of this world instead of the best of God. The tent and a bed can look enticing, but eventually, you will be ready for a house in God's promised land.

God always desires the best for us and He has made provisions for us to receive His best. However, when we settle for the good of this world then we often miss out on God's best.

God's best is always found in obedience and following Him closely.

Do not let the world's good steal God's best from you. He desires to provide His best. It is always right there with Him. Where are we?

Praying that you are enjoying the best of God in His presence.

Love Bro. Scott
