Proverbs 19:5 NASB95 A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who tells lies will not escape.
Proverbs 19:9 NASB95 A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who tells lies will perish.
Proverbs 19:22 NASB95 What is desirable in a man is his kindness, And it is better to be a poor man than a liar.
All we see, read, and hear on the news is about the government shutdown. One side says this, the other side says that, and at least one side has to be a liar. I feel that the answer is that both sides are liars. We need to understand that what is not true is a lie. There is no such thing as my truth and his truth/ her truth. There is but one truth. Jesus is the truth.
With the examples we see today, it is no wonder that lying is a major sin issue in society and even in the church. In this one chapter of 29 verses, it explains the consequences of being a liar three times. It says lying will not go unpunished, liars will perish, and it is better to be poor than a liar.
Because lying has been widely accepted in the world and it has been ignored in the church, it has become a sin that is not considered a sin. This is extremely dangerous. While Jesus' blood covers all sin it is wrong to think that we can go on sinning and not worry about consequences. David was unconcerned about the consequences with Bathsheba, and although he was forgiven, his family suffered, and he fell on his face while he lost his son to death. We can not think that lying or any other sin is not a big deal. Sin has many consequences the greatest being the sacrifice of God's Son.
Seek forgiveness for your lies now! Stop lying now! Be prepared for the consequences now!
All sin is awful. Including what the world tells us is no big deal. Calling lying no bigdeal, is ,a lie and it will have consequences.
