The importance and power of your Christian witness is fulfilled before death. There is no change in the eternal destination after the gates of physical life are closed.
Psalm 49:7 NASB95 No man can by any means redeem his brother Or give to God a ransom for him
It always breaks my heart to hear someone say, Pray for my family member he/she has passed away.
After the person has experienced physical death, there is nothing that can be done. You can not pray nor pay their way into heaven.
Even during physical life, as we see in our text, there is no way a person can purchase their loved one.
It requires an unnecessary death to substitute for a necessary death. Every man who has ever lived except Jesus has sinned and therefore must die. Their death is necessary.
Jesus is without sin; therefore, His death was unnecessary. It was through His death that He redeemed us.
Jesus paid the price now it is up to them whether they will stay in His cart or jump back on the shelf.
This text uses two words: the first is redeem, which is the purchase of you back to God. The second word is ransom, which is the rescue after you have been taken into death.
The only power we have is the power of the Good News of Jesus (Gospel) shared with those who have yet to suffer physical death.
Romans 1:16 NASB95 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
The Gospel has the power to save those who believe (placed faith in).
We must not waste our time seeking to save those who are gone, but instead share the Gospel now with those who are still here!
Psalm 49:7 NASB95 No man can by any means redeem his brother Or give to God a ransom for him.
The importance and power of your Christian witness is fulfilled before their death. Don't wait until it is too late!
