2 Samuel 19:10-11 NASB95 “However, Absalom, whom we anointed over us, has died in battle. Now then, why are you silent about bringing the king back?” Then King David sent to Zadok and Abiathar the priests, saying, “Speak to the elders of Judah, saying, ‘Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house, since the word of all Israel has come to the king, even to his house?
Most every man has struggled with the same thing Judah was struggling with in these verses. Almost all mankind has backslidden, strayed away, and turned from God at some point. We find something new and fresh that catches our eye, and for a moment or longer, we think it is better than our life with the Lord. We then realize it was not better. Absalom was not better than David; he was just different, and soon, different became worse, and eventually, he died.
Then another problem arises, or at least the appearance of another problem. Will God take us back? David sent a message to Judah.
Basically asking, why are you not running back to me? Those who are not close to God in the first place turn and run back because they don't understand the hurt they have caused but those who were in the family realize the hurt and let Satan play on that guilt and shame. God has sent a message to you today. Don't hesitate! Turn and run back to Me today. I will take you back and be thankful for your return.
Why are you silent about bringing the king back?
God desires your immediate return.
So, right now, identify your Absalom, turn from it, him, or her, and run back to God. Don't wait for your Absalom to die. Leave now for God is calling you back. Your new kingdom may look better in the short term, but it is short-lived and will decay rapidly in the end.
God and His kingdom are eternal and never will decay!
