Job 41:11 NASB1995 Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine.
Have you ever tried to make a deal with God? You say, God if you will do this for me, then I will do this for you. Think of the last part of that statement, "I will do this for you."
What does The Omnipotent God need you to do? What is there that He, in all His might, can not do on His own? The answer is nothing! He spoke into existence everything we see and all that we can't. Then, in our pride, we say "God I will give you something and you can repay me by giving me something. "
Ridiculous!
The only thing we have to give is ourself and we can only do that because He already gave to us freewill. He didn't have to give us freewill, but He desires us to give ourselves to Him freely.
We are so full of pride that we forget it is only because of God's power that we have the ability to give ourselves back to Him.
Stop thinking that God owes us something.
Stop thinking that you have something to offer to God that isn't already His. He says to us, "Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine."
Just imagine you give someone a car. Then one-day they come by your house with both of your vehicles sitting in the drive way. They say to you I have torn up my car, it no longer runs right. However, I am going to make you a deal. I will give you my car but when I do you will owe me. Since you owe me I will take one of your cars. It sounds absurd but no more absurd than us telling God He owes us.
Have you ever tried to make a deal with God?
So have I.
We need to just stop and give Him ourselves. We owe Him so much more.
