The life of a Christian, while simple, is hard. It is hard because we are at war against the flesh which desires comfort in our time on earth. It is simple because it requires nothing but the truth delivered in the power of the Spirit to those with whom we associate.

Paul sent a letter to the church at Colossae. He sent the letter in the hands of a few men who would share with them the conditions of Paul's life at that moment.

One of the men he sent the letter with was Onesimus.

Colossians 4:9 NASB95 and with him Onesimus, our faithful and beloved brother, who is one of your number. They will inform you about the whole situation here.

Why did he send Onesimus? It was because he was one of them. He was a brother in Christ with Paul and the church of Colossae. He was also a native of Colossae. Lastly, he was a slave who was returning himself to his master in his own freedom in Christ.

Onesimus was there to share with his associates what Christ had done for him!

This is the simplest act in evangelism. Sharing the Way with the ones along your way. The only reason it is hard is our refusal to submit our flesh to the Holy Spirit.

The life of a Christian, while simple, is hard.

We must not let our temporal flesh make hard what God has made so simple. Wherever you are today, you are associated with them. Please help them to become associated with you in Christ, as you Share the Way with them.

It really is that simple.

And for most of us, we will be with our number just like Onesimus. Who in freedom was going back to his master. Even though he was going back to live under Philemon, he was free in Christ.

We live in the flesh but we are free in Christ.

Live like it!

Love Bro. Scott
