Ephesians 1:2 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,

In the power of the resurrection, Christ has supreme authority. Our text says All things have been put in subjection under His feet.

I was given the amazing responsibility and pleasure of raising two children whom I love tremendously and would give my life for. I for 18 years was given full authority over them. They were in subjection to me. Everything I sought to do was for their betterment and well-being. However, it was a constant battle because they felt they knew better and were wiser than I was.

I have always felt that I got the better part of the job.

I failed and erred in many ways during those years because I am a fallen man.

God did a similar thing for His children, which He named the Church. However, the one to whom He gave supreme authority over the Church is Jesus.

The difference is that Jesus has full authority over ALL things, whereas I only had authority over my two children. Plus, Jesus did not fall, but was instead a substitution for our sins. While I am fallen and dealing with my sins.

Therefore Jesus' authority over the church is perfect and without error. This brings up the question. Why do we constantly battle against Christ's authority and leadership over the church? We can understand why our children battle our leadership. It is because they think they know best and they know that we are fallen and make many errors. Yet this is not the case with us and Christ, or is it?

Do we really think that we know best? The truth is that in our fallen, sinful state, we struggle to release control even though we know that He has been given supreme authority over ALL. He is perfect and He desires the best for us. The best for us is complete surrender to Him.

God the Father knows best, and He put all things in subjection under His (Christ's) feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church.

We need to stop being rebellious children and follow our Head which is Christ Jesus!

Love Bro. Scott
