Proverbs 9:1-2 NASB95 Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars; She has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; She has also set her table;
The Lord seeks after us. He has since the first sin. Actually, He has since before the first sin, as He is omniscient, knowing all things. Scripture tells us that Jesus was planning to be the lamb slain before creation, because He knew mankind would sin (Revelation 13:8). This shows us that even then, God was seeking us. When Adam and Eve sinned, the Lord called out to them, "Where are you?" (Genesis 3:9). Once again, seeking us.
If He seeks us, He is prepared for us. Ephesians 2:10 NASB95 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
John 14:3 NASB95 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
One way He is preparing for us is to help us receive wisdom. Wisdom is prepared to prepare us for Christ. Proverbs 9:1-2 NASB95 Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars; She has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; She has also set her table;
God's Word goes on to say in Proverbs 9:10 NASB95 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
With all this seeking and preparation for us, it only makes sense that believers would prepare for Him.
Notice I said believers. Non-believers have a lack of fear and thus a lack of wisdom, so they can't seek or prepare until the Spirit convicts, and by Grace through faith, they are saved.
However, throughout scripture those who have been received prepare themselves.
Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abed-Nego, Esther, and the five prudent virgins (who were ready for the bridegrooms coming for the wedding feast) are just a few examples of this.
Wisdom is prepared to prepare us for the coming bridegroom. Yet we often don't want to listen to wisdom and be ready. Therefore, when He comes like a thief in the night, we are not prepared.
Do you put effort into the service of the Lord, or are you attempting to skate by? Being on unprepared skates is dangerous. A wheel can lock up or fall off and then you fall.
Be like wisdom and be prepared for Jesus' return. Some are prepared with Salvation and that is great. However, others are prepared with Salvation and crowns of righteousness. Because in wisdom they have a fear (awe) of the Lord. This is even better!
Do you have an awe of the Lord? Wisdom has the house ready, the table set, and all the ingredients purchased.
By Grace through faith, the bridegroom is coming to your house, if you have salvation. When He gets there, will your cupboards be bare? I pray you are giving effort in your salvation to be prepared in awe of the Lord!
