John 17:26 and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
This is the last line of the prayer of the Lord Jesus. Jesus tells the Father "I have made your name known." He had come to earth in the perfect picture of humility to show us God the Father. Although He existed in the form of God, He did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped. but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. He fasted from Heaven for 33 years to seek and to save the lost by being the propitiation for our sins. He did all this by spending all His time to this point in this prayer making Father God known! Yet as He continues by saying "and will make it known," we see that He has no intention to stop. He was less than 24 hours from death and He knew it. Yet His plan was to continue to make God the Father known.
He succeeded! However, it is amazing that He is still doing it today, almost 2000 years later. Why would He continue to make God known through His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension? He reveals why as He finishes His prayer. So that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” Jesus' desire is for all who will receive Him to experience the amazing love of God the Father inside them. We can experience this love as it is poured into His only begotten Son who will abide in us as we abide in Him. John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
Jesus was granted His prayer through His Gospel presentation on the cross, in the grave, and through His resurrected body.
Father I say Thank you. I say Thank you to Jesus for praying this prayer. I feel your love in me, and I pray, Heavenly Father, that others will feel it also as I Share the Way! Amen
