Joel 2:13 NASB95 And rend your heart and not your garments.” Now return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness And relenting of evil.

The Lord is calling you right now. Today, He says Come to me. The Lord calls out Return to me, don't keep heading in the wrong direction.

Come back to the Lord who saved you and still holds you in His righteous right hand. Where no one can pluck you out. He still has a love for you that no created thing can separate you from.

Even though you have strayed away and are going in the wrong direction God's love follows you. It convicts you of your sin and says repent back into the fellowship of the Lord.

However, our text says, rend your heart and not your garments.” You might be able to fool all those around you with actions that say I repent but God knows your heart. He is not calling for a visual repentance but a spiritual repentance. When you repent in the Spirit, the physical will follow, and the garments of your actions will show that you have repented and returned to the Lord.

Now return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness And relenting of evil.

Why would you want to continue to run for a God who desires to be your Lord? He desires to be the one who guides you in love. He is gracious in that we don't deserve Him but here He is calling out for your fellowship. He is compassionate in that He still loves us when we sacrificed His Son. He is Slow to anger in that He hasn't wiped us out for the sinful creation that we are. He is abounding in lovingkindness in that His desire and love are available to EVERYONE, including you! He is relenting of evil in that He wants to take us back even now while we are still in our sins!

So the question is, why are you not rending your heart, repenting of your sins, and returning to this absolutely, positively, without a doubt, most undescribable amazing God?

The only reason possible is because you think that you are more important than Him.

This simply is a lie from Satan.

Come back to the Lord God now.
