In scripture, the church is the bride of Christ, the Bridegroom.

Imagine if the Church spoke of Christ in terms that praised Him on a level as the bride describes the bridegroom in our text today.

Song of Songs 5:10-16 NASB95 “My beloved is dazzling and ruddy, Outstanding among ten thousand. “His head is like gold, pure gold; His locks are like clusters of dates And black as a raven. “His eyes are like doves Beside streams of water, Bathed in milk, And reposed in their setting. “His cheeks are like a bed of balsam, Banks of sweet-scented herbs; His lips are lilies Dripping with liquid myrrh. “His hands are rods of gold Set with beryl; His abdomen is carved ivory Inlaid with sapphires. “His legs are pillars of alabaster Set on pedestals of pure gold; His appearance is like Lebanon Choice as the cedars. “His mouth is full of sweetness. And he is wholly desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.”

My Christ is dazzling the most beautiful of all. He is red from the blood of the sacrifice He made for me. You could search among tens of thousands and never find a Savior like Him. He is more pure than the purest gold. Everything about Him reveals Him fulfilling our greatest need. We will not hunger for salvation in His presence because He fulfilled the need and we are full. Looking into His eyes you see that He sets us free from the bonds of sin. In His home, we are free to enjoy the beauty of quiet, still streams of water, pure and white. When in His presence, you smell the sweetest smells scented subtly with spices. From His mouth come words of conviction with the offer of forgiveness upon repentance. These are words of love. His hands are strong and pure keeping us safe in the purity of righteousness.

He is strong and valuable beyond measure. He is perfect in every way. He is pure in every way. He is righteous in every way. He is beautiful in every way. He is valuable beyond measure in every way. He is caring in every way. He is protective in every way. He is just in every way. He is Holy in every way. He is completely sacrificial in every way. He is the total truth in every way. He is indescribable in every way. This is my Jesus. This is my Savior. This is my Lord.

What would the world think if we describe Him in such ways? What would the world think if we lived as if we believed He is described as above and yet completely indescribable?

Do you believe these things about the bridegroom of the church?

If so why would we live without striving to please the one who is such a Savior and Lord?

If we did seek to tell the world of who He is, attempting to describe the indescribable. Telling of the amazingness of the one who is above amazing. Then the first verse of the next chapter tells us what would happen.

Song of Songs 6:1 NASB95 “Where has your beloved gone, O most beautiful among women? Where has your beloved turned, That we may seek him with you?”

They would seek Him too!

Lord, help us live and share you!

Love Bro. Scott
