‭Malachi 1:6a “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. Then if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My respect?" says the Lord of hosts to you,

God is speaking to the priest of Israel who had led the congregation to not show respect and honor to Him.

I just read an article about a college sports player who had not had a great year statistically. He is now entering the draft and many are asking, is he worth taking after having a bad year. His coach wanting to help him in the draft had something like this to say. Although he had some physical issues that hindered him this year, He was a model teammate. He was 100% faithful and supportive of his university. He was at every practice being an example for his teammates. He was an assistant to his coaches. He did everything that was asked of him. He never questioned our use of him this year and yet always was ready and desired to play. He is the type of player and person you want on your team.

The coach spoke of his desire, his dedication, his faithfulness, and his effort. These are all important aspects of a team member. You don't want a player who gives no effort and won't show up on time or misses many meetings. You don't want a player who doesn't speak well of your team the coach or the other players. We also would not want to be that type of teammate. Instead, we would want to be talked about like this coach spoke of his previous player.

No team, no coach, and no teammate deserves to be treated with more respect effort dedication, and faithfulness than Almighty God and His Son. Ask yourself if God was to give a description of me like this coach did, what would He have to say? Would it be like Our verse says? I am the team's father and he/she gives me no honor or respect. Would God say I ask for faithfulness but he/she seldom shows up? Would God say I asked him/her to be an assistant and an example for others, and they showed little effort? Would God say they spend their time with other teams in other sports like that is their God? God is your Heavenly Father should you ignore Him and His family? He is the ONLY one deserving of honor. God is your master. He is a perfect master. He always treats you correctly. Should you be disrespectful of Him? He has shown you respect when you didn't deserve it should you not show Him respect when He always deserves it?

God wrote this verse to the priest who had wrongly led the congregation of Israel away. Have you wrongly led people away from God because you were not a good son/daughter/teammate? Be honest with yourself.

I know I am guilty. If I can be a good teammate in other areas I should definitely be a good teammate to my brothers and sisters in God. I should definitely show God HONOR. I should definitely be present and do all that is asked of me.

How about you?

Love Bro. Scott
