James 3:17 NASB95 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

Wisdom can be false or real. The false wisdom is from Satan and is often shown in pride. Selfish and evil desire is often the fruit of this type of wisdom. However, God has been known to use this for good as we are told in Romans 8:28 NASB95 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

We see examples of this daily. We can even see an example of this in yesterday's devotional. While God uses false or earthly wisdom for His glory, its fruit is always prideful selfish ambition of the person who holds this wisdom.

Yet, real wisdom is from God and reveals God in all its fruit.

This wisdom is from above and is pure. This means it is clean, and does not contain the filth of evil desire. While earthly wisdom is built on evil, real wisdom from above has a foundation of the purity of God.

Real wisdom is peaceable. Christ is the Prince of Peace. Peace is only found in Him. People get so upset over the things of this world but in Christ, you deal with them knowing that it is temporary. While perfect unity will be eternity in Christ. This is real wisdom from above, having peace in Christ during the chaos and confusion of the world.

Real wisdom gentle. To be gentle is to have power but not to yield it for your well-being. Another description can be meekness and in a way humility. Wisdom from above is not about glorifying self but showing others the glory of Christ so they can have His wisdom handed down from above providing the pure, peaceable, gentle, assurance that He provides. Real wisdom always has a goal of bringing others in love to the Savior. The disciples learned this wisdom from Jesus. Luke 9:54-56 NASB95 When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of; for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” And they went on to another village.

Real wisdom is reasonable. It is obedient to Christ, it is compliant with the law, it is desiring of others to enjoy the real wisdom from above therefore wisdom almost begs others to enjoy the pleasure of being obedient to Christ.

Real wisdom is full of mercy and good fruit. It always shows the atoning sacrifice of Christ fulfilling the debt of our sin. Because of this mercy it fills you with a desire to serve the Lord producing good fruit. Fruit is a seed-bearing structure. It reproduces itself. Example God's service produces more service as it brings about new believers who serve the Lord to bring about new believers who serve the Lord....

Real wisdom is unwavering. Faith ends in sight and real wisdom ends in the presence of the omniscient God. My mother through my wife is a perfect example of this. She with dementia just lies in bed. She can't carry on a conversation, walk, or do anything, but because of the real godly wisdom she revealed earlier in life, I can still see it in her today. This is only possible because it comes from God!!! I can not explain it but I can see it.

Real wisdom is without hypocrisy. It is real. There is no falseness in it. You can not fool God. Worldly false wisdom can be faked but real Godly wisdom is given seen and acknowledged by God.

Are you wise in the wisdom from God?

James says in, James 3:13 NASB95 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.

If this is not you James says in, James 1:5 NASB95 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Only with God can you truly be wise.
