I have seen several outhouses in my 55 years of life, some were extremely run down, left to just fall apart over time. Some were kept up and painted to look decent, like the one my grandparents had. Others were really nice-looking, having stained wood with nice doors that were connected to a spring to stay shut and keep the animals out, like the ones at the park I used to go running in as a teenager. Yet, everyone I ever opened smelled awful! No matter what they looked like on the outside, they were full of waste on the inside.

You know, many people treat their bodies this way. They are filled with smut and garbage on the inside, but they think as long as I keep the outside looking good, I am okay.

Can I tell you, no matter how well-kept the outside of those outhouses were, I never desired to go into one. I knew the stench that was in there.

Here is the thing: God doesn't care what you look like on the outside. Because when He comes in, He cleans from the inside out.

You can spend your life looking superficially clean but being full of scat, or you can seek God. Then follow Him in obedience and be cleansed and washed white as snow. You can be imputed with His Righteousness from the inside out.

Jesus spoke about this in Matthew 23: 26-27 NASB95 “You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.

When God says woe, He is saying stop. It is bad for you to continue in that direction.

So stop being so concerned about what everybody sees, and seek God to take care of who you really are on the inside.

Don't be a hypocrite. Be a real obedient Christ follower.

People can say I am a Christian, but it is what is inside that matters. Is the Holy Spirit there? An outhouse built to look like the Whitehouse is still full of dung.

Praying, we will give the cleaning detail to Christ.

Love Bro. Scott
