According to an Internet search people say the three most important things are

Physical Health

Family

Finances

The most frequently asked question is, 'What time is it?'

And the thing they say they desire most is to be happy.

Scripture says, Isaiah 2:17-18 NASB95 The pride of man will be humbled And the loftiness of men will be abased; And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day, But the idols will completely vanish.

Man will never be satisfied with the things of this world because they are said to build up or be for the consumption of man. Yet they are temporary while man is everlasting. Mankind will exist in eternity in one of two places, heaven in God's presence or Hell all alone.

The health that man desires will fade. All mankind who has lived will find out that at some point their health will fail. Even if they are murdered while in perfect health, at death their health is gone.

The only family to last is the family of God.

Money is useless in death. Gold is mere pavement in heaven.

In eternity time doesn't exist.

Happiness is only found in Christ because He is eternal.

We focus on things of this world when our text tells us the truth. Man will be humbled realizing that everything is truly about God and not me. No matter how built up I am, when I look at God I realize that I am closer to the bottom than the top. God is above all and He alone is to be worshipped. Everything else we give importance to is nothing more than an idol and in the end it will vanish!

God gives us this text so that we can realize this now and live accordingly.

The three most important things are, God, God, God.

The question that we should ask the most is, Lord what is your desire for me today?

And the thing we should desire above all is to Bless the Lord.

Does this describe our life? If not then maybe we need to realize what our text says again.

Isaiah 2:17-18 NASB95 The pride of man will be humbled And the loftiness of men will be abased; And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day, But the idols will completely vanish.
