I read somewhere that after an eating contest, the women's winner was asked if she was full. Her response was, Yes, I am extremely full, but I would eat more!

This is just like Satan and his attack. I got you, but I'm going to get you more.

Ahab was probably the most evil king that Israel ever had. He was under siege by Ben-hadad the king of Aram. Ben-hadad sent to Ahab a message Give me all your gold, silver, wives, and children. Ahab, in his pride, thought, I can give him these things, and he will be satisfied, and I will still be King. So he did. Then Ben-hadad sent a message. Tomorrow I will send in my servants and if they find anything that you value, they will take it away also. Our text then tells us, 1 Kings 20:7 NASB95 Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land and said, “Please observe and see how this man is looking for trouble; for he sent to me for my wives and my children and my silver and my gold, and I did not refuse him.”

Ahab was tricked by Ben-hadad. Ben-hadad being led by Satan was taking advantage of Ahab who was evil and also being led by Satan

This should teach us several lessons.

SIN IS NEVER SATISFIED! It just keeps taking more and more.

SATAN IS A DECEIVER! If he lies to others for you he will lie to you also.

YOU WILL NEVER BE AT PEACE IN SIN! Sin doesn't care at all about your peace. If Satan isn't at peace he doesn't want you to have it either.

Ahab gave up His blessings to take care of himself. Then he realized that his little god (satan) didn't even care if he had that. Ahab thought if I give these precious gifts, then I can stay King and still live in comfort. Then a few days later Satan comes back wanting his throne and his comfort.

One more lesson. Once you get tied up with Satan it is hard to turn back to God.

Even when Satan is attacking you, he is whispering in your ear Come to me, I will help you. Then he leads you to another sin.

Notice in our text that Ahab didn't turn to God but instead called the elders of the land. Satan stabs you with a sword, then comes back a few days later and says Let me help you get that sword out. He is all the while looking for another spot to stab you.

One more lesson to end with.

God is long-suffering and patiently waiting for you to stop following Satan and come to Him. He really cares.

1 Kings 20:13 NASB95 Now behold, a prophet approached Ahab king of Israel and said, “Thus says the LORD, ‘Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver them into your hand today, and you shall know that I am the LORD.’”

When you play with fire you eventually get burned.

When you follow Satan's lead remember he is always heading to Hell!

Just some lessons we need to remember.

Love Bro. Scott
