Mission Failure

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

Matthew 7:21-23 NASB95

Recently, astronauts successfully traveled farther into space than ever before. Yet with all of our research, we still have mission failures.

Imagine the preparation required for this mission. Years of research and work. Finally, everything is ready. You watch for twelve hours as the rocket slowly rolls toward the launch pad. Once arriving, it takes several days to make sure the rocket is ready. Finally, the countdown begins. The astronauts spend three to four hours getting into their suits and completing pressure checks. Arriving at the spacecraft, they are strapped in, and the hatch closes; still one hour remains on the clock. More checks are made, and finally.

“We must have done something wrong.” Over the radio comes, “Mission failure!”

Imagine the thousands of workers and the hundreds of thousands of hours invested, only to end with failure? The disappointment would be enormous!

However, that disappointment is minuscule compared to the feeling of spending a lifetime trying to get into heaven and hearing the Lord Jesus say, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” This passage reveals that not everyone who spends their lifetime prophesying, casting out demons, and doing miracles even in the name of Jesus will enter into the Kingdom of God. What a horrible time to discover mission failure! Jesus revealed this in Scripture, so we don't have to wait until then. While these do not bring about mission failure, they also don’t assure its success. Mission success requires the Father's will, found in John 6:40: “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.” To behold is to contemplate with your mind. To believe is to place faith in. The Lord has provided everything needed for a successful mission. Romans 1:20 & 12:3

Don’t let your life end with mission failure. By faith, accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Then do the mission of Sharing the Way! - Mission Success.

Lord, today I pray Your mission will be successful because I have Your Son as my Lord and Savior. If this is not the case, Lord, reveal it to me today. That I might behold Your Son and place my faith in Him. Lord, may my will be tethered to Your will, and my mission be guided by You. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus, Amen.

Love, Brother Scott.
