John 12:14 NASB95 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written,
When I read the verse Jesus took me to today, my first thought was, what are you going to have me say about this verse? After much study, my next thought was, what are you going to have me say about this verse? Then in prayer, this is what He gave me.
Jesus fulfilled prophecy by riding on this donkey. This showed Him to be the Messiah. Yet no one recognized the significance. They held palm branches, laid out their cloaks, and shouted "Hosanna" because they believed He was the coming Messiah who would defeat their Roman enemies. Yet He was riding on a beast of burden used in times of peace. The donkey was used to carry supplies for travel or work. Yet it wasn't used for battle.
The people missed the prophecy altogether. Even His disciples missed it. John even says later that they realized the prophecy had been fulfilled.
Jesus wasn't coming to fight. He was coming to humbly surrender. He wasn't coming with a sword but a sacrifice. He wasn't coming in sinful aggression but in righteous peace. He came to cut away the chariot of pride and the false strength of battle. He came to surrender His Holiness and dominion to be placed in the filth of sin's prison. That is death
Through His surrender, He rode a donkey of peace. Yet in His surrender the true strength of Holiness was revealed in life and victory. He rode a donkey into Jerusalem. He left victorious over death in the power of His deity. With a dominion that goes from sea to sea and to the ends of the Earth. He will come again on a horse in the clouds to lock death into the lake of fire. All that will be left is His dominion.
On the donkey, He doesn't take dominion; He receives it. Have you given Him dominion of your soul?
Zechariah 9:9-10 NASB95 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem; And the bow of war will be cut off. And He will speak peace to the nations; And His dominion will be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.
On the horse, He locks away in an eternal Hell all that He doesn't have dominion over.
Have you given Him dominion of your soul?
He has all power, yet chooses to let you choose His dominion up until He mounts His horse.
I truly believe the donkey is in its stall and the horse is ready to ride. Are you prepared to humbly put away your horse and get on your donkey?
